Recognizing the importance of tapping and training future leaders, Managing Partner Jim Lehman joined the Leadership Council on Leadership Diversity, an organization of more than 300 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners.
Nelson Mullins has developed a program that specifically aims to expand the business-development and leadership capabilities of attorneys. The Nelson Mullins High Potentials Program is a program for partners based on their legal skills as well as their high business development potential.
We achieved Mansfield Certification for the 2023-2024 certification period. This certification includes consideration of historically underrepresented lawyers for various talent-related processes and leadership roles within the firm. While the certification includes consideration of expanded pools of candidates, the ultimate determinations are based on merit with no specific required outcomes.

Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Group is committed to advancing the firm’s Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander (“AANAPI”) professionals and promoting and advocating the culture, heritage, and interests of the AANAPI communities within the firm. AANAPI provides a forum for professionals to exchange information, foster relationships, and support career development.
BRIDGE-Together stands for "Bringing Reflection Intention Development Goals and Equality – Together" and this group provides space for discourse, information and events that help to broaden and deepen the experiences of black professionals the firm. BRIDGE Together supports professional and client development opportunities to support cross-office and Firmwide networking, mentorship, and collaboration.
The group seeks to cultivate a better understanding of the unique issues facing the LGBTQ+ community and support the professional and social development needs of our LGBTQ+ employees.
The Latinx Affinity Group (“Unidos”) provides a platform for professional to cultivate meaningful relationships with colleagues across the firm by engaging with the Hispanic/Latino community through our involvement with local and national bar organizations, including the Hispanic National Bar Association. Unidos provides networking opportunities for our members, which also serve to strengthen the firm’s connection to the Hispanic/Latino community.
These groups work to promote women’s leadership both within and outside of the firm, and work to foster a better understanding of the unique issues facing women professionals.

Associates Chelsea Barnes and Bethany Barclay-Adeniyi's introduction to Nelson Mullins began with the firm's Scholarship Program, a pipeline effort to bring in talent. Earning the scholarship in 2017, Bethany now practices in the Atlanta office, where she interned as part of the program.
The Nelson Mullins M&A Externship Program provides 2L and 3L students from the University of Georgia School of Law with work experience in mergers and acquisitions for academic credit.
