Nelson Mullins Hosts Wills for Heroes Event

Nelson Mullins attorneys Dell Chappell, Brad Barringer, Wendy Degerman, Colton Driver, Adam Hegler, Jarrett Coco, Sanford Roth, and paralegal Ann Boney participated in the firm’s pro bono Wills for Heroes event held on Friday, July 27, 2018, in the Columbia headquarters office.

Seventeen Nelson Mullins attorneys and paralegals, provided support to serve 106 SLED officers, law enforcement, state house security, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians with simple wills and medical healthcare power of attorneys. The firm will host another small event this fall to serve an additional 45 first responders on a  waiting list.

The program offers first response personnel and their families free will preparation services.  Thousands of wills have been created since the program’s inception after September 11, 2001 in S.C., Ga., W.Va., and Tenn. The project became an American Bar Association Young Lawyers® Division service project and is the model for numerous state bar programs.
