Carter is a registered patent attorney who advises clients on intellectual property matters in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. She regularly supports deal teams by conducting intellectual property due diligence, evaluating the scope and strength of IP portfolios, analyzing ownership and chain-of-title, identifying potential risks, and assisting with the transfer and documentation of intellectual property assets in both buy-side and sell-side transactions. She also supports the intellectual property aspects of business and technology transactions, including assignments, licenses, and related commercial agreements.
In addition to her transaction practice, Carter prepares and prosecutes domestic and international patent and trademark applications, conducts freedom-to-operate analyses, and counsels clients on intellectual property protection and portfolio strategy. Her technical experience is concentrated in the mechanical and electrical arts.
