Nelson Mullins Represents OceanTech Acquisitions I in $224.3 Million SPAC Deal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nelson Mullins represented OceanTech Acquisitions I (“OceanTech”) in its special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) deal with Captura Biopharma (“Captura”). The deal has a value of $224.3 million and is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2022. The deal would allow Captura to be listed on the NASDAQ.

The Nelson Mullins team included partners Andy Tucker, Daniel Fitzgerald, Peter Strand, and associates Amanda Chong and Sydney Hamer. Captura Biopharma is an emerging biotechnology company developing and commercializing oral chelators to treat internal transuranic radionuclide contamination and heavy metal poisoning. Its leading candidate, C2E2, would be the world’s first oral treatment for internal transuranic radiation contamination.

Tucker is a corporate and securities advisor to growing companies, particularly in the technology and government contracting sectors. He assists his clients with a broad variety of transactional support, including venture capital and private equity transactions, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and public and private securities offerings.

Fitzgerald concentrates his practice on a variety of corporate transactional matters, such as both buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, venture capital investments, liquidation and exit strategies, and general corporate governance matters. 

Strand practices in the area of corporate and securities law. He represents both investment banks and issuers in a wide variety of public and private offerings, including initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, Rule 144A offerings of equity or debt, and Regulation D institutional private offerings.

Chong concentrates her practice in a variety of mergers and acquisitions transactions. She represents and advises clients with general corporate governance matters including entity formation, business restructuring and related matters

Hamer’s practice focuses in the area of mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law.
