Fort Lauderdale Partner Scott D. Knapp Named to South Florida Business Journal's 40 Under 40 List

FORT LAUDERDALE – June 21, 2019 – Scott D. Knapp, a partner in Nelson Mullins Broad and Cassel’s Fort Lauderdale office, has been named by the South Florida Business Journal as a 40 under 40 honoree. Each year, the publication honors the best and brightest young professionals in South Florida who have made waves both in the business world and the community.  The South Florida Business Journal will present awards to the 40 Under 40 Class at an event on August 2, 2019.

Knapp is a litigator with a broad background in complex business and civil litigation. He has experience representing clients in matters involving breach of contract, enforcement of restrictive covenants, class actions, consumer protection, unfair and deceptive trade practices, upstream entity and corporate liability defense, partnership disputes, professional liability and other business torts.

Outside of the courtroom, Knapp has served the legal community as the past chairman of The Florida Bar’s Seventeenth Circuit Grievance Committee, which investigates alleged lawyer misconduct. He previously served as the co-chair to the Broward County Bar Association’s trial section, and he was also the president and continues to serve on the board of B’nai B’rith Justice Unit (Broward County’s Jewish Bar Association), where he added to the Unit’s programming a backpack and school supply drive for underprivileged youth as well as another event supporting a veteran’s mental health initiative.

Knapp recently obtained a certificate from the Board Member Institute at Kellogg School of Management / Northwestern University.  He continues to employ a business approach with his clients, as well as through his leadership on many community-based boards including as a vice president of B’nai B’rith International, a global organization that is a leader in advancing human rights; ensuring access to safe and affordable housing for low-income seniors; Israel advocacy; diversity education; and helping communities in crisis.  Knapp also serves as the international secretary of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, Inc. He is on the claims committee for FRMT, Ltd.
