Nelson Mullins Parter Jason Epstein was quoted in a New York Law Journal article on Law.com discussing how artificial intelligence is complicating vendor contract negotiations and increasing demand for legal guidance around AI-related risks.
Epstein explained that companies are increasingly turning to attorneys to help navigate evolving vendor agreements as AI tools become more prevalent.
“Demand has gone up exponentially” for helping businesses navigate vendor contracts involving AI tools,” he said.
The article also highlighted how the lack of standardized AI-related contract terms and evolving security concerns are forcing attorneys and clients to spend more time negotiating protections around data use and AI deployment.
Many contracts involving AI services are “not complete” when it comes to addressing the full range of potential risks and implications associated with the technology, Epstein noted. He added that “vigilance” is required as businesses and attorneys work through the “wild west” of artificial intelligence.
The article further examined growing concerns surrounding data security, AI model training and the challenge of future-proofing agreements as AI technologies continue to evolve rapidly.
