With the recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and other technology, comes a great deal of uncertainty in nearly every industry. In an article published by the Nashville Business Journal, Nashville Office Managing Partner Geof Vickers was interviewed on the impact of these advancements on the legal field and their implications for clients.
“Confidentiality of client data and preserving and/or creating attorney-client privilege are some of the larger issues,” Vickers said. “As with any tool, lawyers need to stay in the loop and treat AI like a tool, not a replacement for judgement or checking for accuracy.”
Vickers also shared common client concerns related to AI and technology advancements, including intellectual property rights and the differences between enterprise and free versions of AI products.
“Presently, we are finding that our clients are looking for information and education, in many cases so that they can evaluate their own risk factors. To that end, we created the AI Task Force,” he said.
Nelson Mullins’ AI Task Force was created to provide thought leadership on domestic and international AI matters across various industries spanning both the public and private sectors.
