S.C. Supreme Court Justice John C. Few, along with Stephanie Lewis (left), the chair of the Greenville Bar Pro Bono Foundation, recently trained the attorneys at Nelson Mullins’ Greenville office on an innovative pro bono platform. Seventy-one percent of low-income households experienced at least one civil legal problem in 2017, often involving healthcare, housing conditions, disability access, veterans' benefits, or domestic violence. Typically, these families are unable to obtain legal assistance. Justice Few (center) is devoted to reducing this access to justice gap. To address this need, Justice Few led the development of a new digital interface connecting volunteer attorneys with potential clients who would otherwise be unserved by the local bar. Attorneys can register to view and select new matters from a list of pre-screened cases. This initiative launched in Greenville in February 2018 and is locally managed by the Greenville Bar Pro Bono Foundation. Nelson Mullins associate David Dill (right) is an inaugural member of the Foundation’s board of directors. The website is accessible at https://www.scprobono.org.
