FinTech Exits and Investable Businesses

FinTech University Series

Continuing the FinTech University series, join Richard Levin, chair of Nelson Mullins’ FinTech and Regulation Practice, and Nelson Mullins partners Lori Anne Czepiel, Adam Safwat, and Kevin Tran for “FinTech Exits and Investable Businesses.” In this one-hour session, they will examine what happens when founders exit their FinTech startups, and what that means for their investors. They will also explore what FinTech companies must do to become funded by institutional venture capital investments.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit will be sought for all attorneys who request such and certificates of attendance are available for CPE purposes. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.

Levin leads the firm's FinTech and Regulation Practice. He advises clients on corporate, FinTech, securities, and regulatory issues.

Czepiel counsels companies, investors, entrepreneurs, family offices, and funds on corporate, M&A, investment, and finance issues, as well as business, governance, strategy, risk management, compliance, dispute resolution, executive comp, IP, entity structuring, and U.S. expansion matters. She has sophisticated experience in M&A transactions, venture capital and private equity investments, joint ventures, reorganizations, IPOs and other securities and capital raising transactions and has led hundreds of transactions valued at more than $120 billion in the aggregate.

Safwat regularly represents companies and individuals before the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission in investigations and compliance-related matters. His practice is multi-faceted, and in addition to Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and U.S. economic sanctions compliance counseling, he focuses on issues related to white collar and regulatory enforcement impacting public and private companies, including securities and accounting fraud, financial fraud, and anti-money laundering issues.

Tran assists financial institutions and technology clients with financial regulatory, securities, and corporate matters. He focuses on the representation of early stage, mid-stage, and publicly traded FinTech companies focused on blockchain technology, digital assets, and cryptocurrencies, including broker-dealers, digital asset and currency trading platforms, digital asset custodians, alternative trading systems, and securities exchanges and swap execution facilities.
