Richard B. Levin has joined the firm as a partner and chair of the Financial Technology (FinTech) and Regulation Practice.
Levin was one of the first lawyers to focus on the regulation of blockchain and digital assets and is considered a thought leader in the FinTech space. He has been identified by legal rankings publisher Chambers and Partners as one of the leading lawyers in the Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies category since the inception of the category. He also has been recognized by Chambers for his knowledge on regulatory matters, for helping clients push the boundaries of the FinTech sector, and for his advice on matters such as broker-dealer licensing and alternative trading systems.
A former general counsel and chief compliance officer of several Wall Street firms and two joint ventures of leading banks, Levin’s practice focuses on representation of early stage and publicly traded companies in the FinTech industry, including broker dealers, alternative trading systems, multilateral trading facilities, exchanges, designated contract markets, swap execution facilities, peer-to-peer lending platforms, robo advisors, crowdfunding portals, and digital currency trading platforms. Levin represents these firms before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, U.S. Department of the Treasury, National Futures Association, Financial Industry and Regulatory Authority, and Congress.
“As FinTech firms and traditional financial services firms struggle to deal with outdated laws, clients need law firms with FinTech and regulatory strength, and Nelson Mullins fits the bill,” Levin said. “I am excited to be joining a firm with strength in securities, banking, and financial services.”
