Sports/Intellectual Property

  • Drafted and negotiated a high volume of commercial and general enterprise contracts, including agreements with vendors, sponsors, and marketing partners.
  • Created and managed a library of form agreements and promotional terms and conditions. 
  • Advised the business on compliance with state, federal, and international marketing, sweepstakes, gaming, data privacy, and intellectual property laws and assisted with corporate governance and entity licensing. 
  • Created terms and conditions for thousands of promotional and marketing mechanics for all company entities.
  • Provided legal counsel to the board of directors, officers, employees, and external counsel directly. 
  • Advised the commissioner and senior management on all legal matters affecting operations and governance, including legal review, advice on risks and implications of new projects, workers compensation, and player discipline. 
  • Drafted various legal documents such as the newly revised collective bargaining agreement, the League’s Charter and Code, Gaming Policies, LLC agreements and certificates of formation for new teams, coach and operator contracts, and various League rules. 
  • Drafted a high volume of commercial contracts and vendor and sponsor agreements
  • Handled all alternative dispute resolutions pertaining to the league and union, namely labor and employment issues such as wage and hour, and all other collective bargaining disputes. 
  • Oversaw all media matters for the league including: the television deal with ESPN, apparel license agreements with 503 sports and Phenom Elite, and gaming vendor deals with Draft Kings and Chalkline Sports. 
  • Protected the league’s intellectual property rights by drafting cease and desist letters against would be infringers and submitting trademark applications on behalf of the League.

Financial Services Litigation/Intellectual Property

  • Specialized in financial services litigation, with exposure to intellectual property and contractual disputes as well as internal investigations, anti-money laundering, attorney general practice, student loan services practice, and sports litigations.
  • Performed high-level work on various pro bono matters in the wills, trusts & estates space and the data privacy and trademark space. 
  • Researched and analyzed complex litigation issues, executed motion practice at various stages of litigation, as well as conducted discovery reviews and corresponded with clients and opposing counsel. 
  • Performed discovery of various electronic and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation.
  • Prepared clients for depositions.
  • Researched and analyzed law on complex issues.
  • Drafted memoranda on complicated legal documents including contracts and internal communications.
