Nelson Mullins Launches European Practice Group

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is thrilled to announce the launch of its new Europe practice group. This addition highlights the firm’s strategic focus to support European companies operating in the United States and American businesses expanding to Europe.

The Europe practice group is led by partners Christina Lehm (Nordic region), Edward Kluiters (Benelux region), and Manny Schoenhuber (DACH region). Together, they combine native European perspectives with extensive U.S. legal experience, offering clients seamless cross-border representation.

Lehm has over 25 years of combined business and legal experience and advises her U.S. and international clients in business disputes and represents them through all stages of litigation in state and federal courts and in arbitration. Lehm is a native of Denmark, and she helps her clients bridge the cultural and legal differences international businesses experience when conducting business or litigating in the U.S.

“Our clients are increasingly seeking legal guidance that reflects the realities of doing business in a global marketplace,” said Lehm. “The launch of this practice strengthens Nelson Mullins’ ability to advise clients navigating legal and regulatory landscapes on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Kluiters assists U.S. and foreign businesses with locating, expanding, and operating in the U.S. He works closely with state and local economic development authorities and governments in advising businesses and industries on various economic development incentives, real estate acquisition, leasing, and financing, and addressing business, contract, and regulatory issues. Originally from the Netherlands, he has represented many U.S. and foreign clients, including companies from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom, which have invested in major advanced manufacturing, distribution, and corporate office facilities in the southeastern U.S.

“At Nelson Mullins, we understand that successful transatlantic expansion requires more than just legal expertise—it demands cultural fluency, strategic foresight, and trusted relationships. Our Europe practice group is built on these pillars,” Kluiters said.

With fluency in widely spoken European languages and deep insight into both European and U.S. regulatory landscapes, this practice group is equipped to advise European-based companies on establishing and expanding operations in the United States. Drawing on extensive knowledge of local commercial practices and transatlantic legal frameworks, the team guides clients through complex cross-border transactions, U.S. regulatory compliance, and the resolution of international disputes.

“As native Europeans and seasoned U.S. advisors, we are uniquely positioned to guide companies and investors through every stage of their market journey—from incorporation and compliance to growth and long-term success,” Schoenhuber said. “With fluency in German, Dutch, Danish, French, Spanish, and other European languages, our team ensures that clients feel understood and supported every step of the way.”

Schoenhuber, whose practice focuses on international law, assists companies and investors on cross-border legal matters between the U.S. and Europe. He helps clients navigate the complex legal landscape, mitigate risk, and maximize profitability through foreign direct investment and market entry strategies. Schoenhuber is originally from Germany and regularly represents European investors, companies, and their subsidiaries in the U.S.

The launch of the Europe practice reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to providing globally informed, locally grounded legal services to our clients.
