BALTIMORE – Nelson Mullins Riley and Scarborough LLP announced today that two attorneys in its Baltimore office have accepted new leadership roles. Tim Hodge, who opened the Baltimore office for the firm in 2018 with 11 partners and has grown the office to nearly 50 attorneys, steps into a new leadership role as head of the firm’s Atlantic corporate and real estate practice. Replacing Hodge as Baltimore office managing partner is Kraig Long.
“I am excited that the firm has put its faith in me to assist with the expansion of our corporate footprint in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast,” said Hodge. “I look forward to working with our partners in other offices to expand the firm’s corporate practice and with Kraig Long to assist with the continued growth of the Baltimore Office.”
Hodge has a corporate practice that focuses on complex transactional matters. His legal experience includes handling domestic and international M&A deals and the full array of challenges a corporate client might face. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for corporate law since 2019 and is recognized by Chambers USA as a Leading Lawyer in Maryland. He has also been named as a Highly Regarded M&A attorney in Maryland by IFLR1000.
“I am very passionate about the office we have built here in Baltimore, but I leave it in good hands with Kraig Long,” Hodge said. “We have assembled a wonderful array of talented lawyers, including Kraig, who achieve great results for our clients. It is an exciting time of growth and change in Baltimore and Kraig is the right person at the right time to build upon our success.”
Long, who joined the firm in 2021, assumes daily leadership of more than 70 attorneys and staff members and also will lead the firm’s employment and labor practice in Baltimore. Baltimore became the firm’s 18th office in 2018 with the addition of corporate and litigation attorneys to enhance the firm’s services to clients in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
"I am honored to take on this new role, and I look forward to working with my partners and colleagues to build on the positive momentum created by Tim Hodge and Mike Brown since they opened this office in 2018,” said Long.
Long represents and defends employers and management in labor and employment-related litigation, including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour violations. Long also is a trusted advisor to a broad range of clients on all aspects of employment law, including strategies and best practices for creating positive and inclusive work environments, managing and accommodating employees with medical conditions and disabilities, compliance with family and medical leave laws, and minimizing litigation risks in the workplace.
Long has been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America for his employment law management as well as litigation practice in labor and employment. He has been named one of Maryland’s Super Lawyers in Employment Litigation Defense for the past seven years. In 2022 he was selected for the Daily Record’s Power List of Business and Employment Law and received the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s Black Leadership Award.
