Nashville Office Managing Partner Laurence M. Papel will serve as the community campaign chair for Tennessee's largest nonprofit law firm, Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee, in its 2019 Campaign for Equal Justice fundraising campaign.
In his role with the Campaign for Equal Justice, Papel will advance Legal Aid Society's mission to provide equal access to justice in Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau by overseeing fundraising efforts directed at donors outside of the region's legal community.
"We're so glad to have Larry in this key role as we prepare to kick off our 2019 Campaign for Equal Justice in April," said DarKenya W. Waller, Legal Aid Society's executive director. "Through his legal and volunteer work, he's been building relationships throughout Middle Tennessee for decades. We think he's the ideal person to help us connect with donors outside of the legal community."
Papel has managed the Firm's Nashville office since its opening in 2012 and has practiced corporate and real estate law in Nashville since graduating from Vanderbilt Law School in 1980. His involvement with the city's local community is extensive, serving on numerous civic and charitable boards. Some of these include stints as chair of the Arts & Business Council and president of both The Rotary Club of Nashville and Nashville Civic Design Center.
"As a Nashville attorney, I've done pro bono work with Legal Aid Society. I know how important our pro bono work is for those confronting challenging circumstances" Papel said. "I look forward to spreading awareness outside the legal community of the positive impact that Legal Aid Society makes throughout Middle Tennessee, which is only possible because of donors' generous support."
