CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The North Carolina Bar Association’s Tax Section recently presented C. Wells Hall, III, a partner with Nelson Mullins Charlotte office, with its first Lifetime Achievement and Service Award. Hall was honored over the weekend during the NCBA Tax Section Annual Meeting on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Hall is the inaugural recipient of the award.
According to the association, the award, “recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated outstanding professional work and exemplary reputation in tax matters and have provided extraordinary service to the Section, the legal profession and the public in endeavors relating to the field of tax law and the mission and activities of the Section.”
Hall previously chaired the NC Bar Association Tax Section from 1986-88 and the Association’s Young Lawyers Division from 1984-85. He also served on the NCBA Board of Governors (1989-1992) and now serves as chair of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation. He is also currently on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina FFA Foundation and the North Carolina 4-H Development Fund, and the Board of Visitors of the Duke University School of Law.
A graduate of Duke University School of Law, Hall advises clients on the federal, state, and multi-state tax aspects of acquisitions, reorganizations, restructuring of business entities, real estate investment trusts, and private equity transactions, and estate and gift tax planning in connection with such transactions.
