In an article published on Jan. 9, 2024, on Law360, partner John Heitmann provided insight into the urgency surrounding funding for the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The ACP, a $30-per-month broadband subsidy for low-income families, will begin to wind down in the absence of new legislation to replenish the program’s funding.
"On Capitol Hill, there have been some folks certainly interested in figuring out whether the program should be tweaked to some extent," Heitmann told Law360. Heitmann also added that the "prospects of a clean ACP funding bill are debatable," and voiced his concern about "an enrollment freeze happening without appropriate notice to all stakeholders."
