Some lawyers at large and midsize law firms report they are advising more clients tied to troubled healthcare companies. Nelson Mullins’ billable hours from healthcare-related matters have increased since the pandemic, said partner and bankruptcy practice vice chair Gary Freedman. The rise in healthcare insolvency influenced Nelson Mullins’ hiring of Zana Scarlett a former U.S. Justice Department trial attorney, to work in the Firm’s Miami-based financial institutions, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights group, he added.
