In the wake of the West Virginia Supreme Court's controversial impeachment proceedings, Marc Williams says that leaders in the state's judicial branch are working to restore trust. "In the chief justice’s chair is Elizabeth Walker, who has taken on responsibility for trying to rebuild trust from lawyers, from the public and, probably more importantly, from those in state government, the governor and the Legislature,” he said. "They’ve worked very hard at that."
A team led by Williams represented Chief Justice Margaret L. Workman, winning a Petition for Writ of Mandamus that halted impeachment proceedings and declared them unconstitutional. The decision became the first case in the United States to prohibit an impeachment for violating other constitutional provisions.
Williams is managing partner of Nelson Mullins' Huntington office. He handles complex cases nationally and has tried more than 100 jury trials and appeals throughout his career.
