In an article published by Law360 on May 13, Jon Sale provided insights into the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) updated corporate enforcement policy. He was quoted in the follow excerpt:

"It's a big carrot for corporations," Sale said. "I've seen individuals reported where it's turned out, after a long investigation, that the Justice Department concludes that there's nothing prosecutable — but that individual has been destroyed."

Sale pointed out that companies that report former executives or ex-employees to the DOJ for wrongdoing may not cover their legal expenses, which can leave individuals in financial distress and unemployable.

In another Law360 article published the following day, May 14, Sale shared his perspectives regarding the nominees for U.S. attorney positions.

"The ideal U.S. attorney candidate is someone who was an AUSA as a young attorney, left the office for some real-world experience in private practice and then returned through the political process as the U.S. attorney out of dedication to public service," said Sale.

Sale noted that it can be challenging to find candidates who meet all the necessary qualifications, adding the ideal U.S. attorney should serve as a role model for AUSAs, respecting the authority of the office they lead and remaining committed to acting with candor, integrity, and fairness.
