In a recent article published by Bloomberg Law, Nelson Mullins Partner Harsh Arora was interviewed about the recent decision by the Florida Supreme Court to end the Florida Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Committee and reallocate funding to a new Membership Outreach Committee to comply with a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling banning race-based affirmative action.
“It’s [Florida Bar’s D&I Committee] had a big impact throughout the state. Since the D&I committee came into existence it did a fantastic job of supporting the diverse members of the bar, racial minorities, LGBTQ members, and women organizations that have taken progressive steps to ensure the bar offers all members an equal footing,” said Arora. He further added, “Change is not always great, but it hopefully brings other opportunities, and we’ll keep lobbying so that we have some other way to help our diverse members.”
Arora concentrates his practice in the areas of domestic and international corporate transactions and related business dispute resolution. He counsels public and privately held companies as a boardroom advisor and a courtroom advocate in high-stakes corporate matters. Arora is the co-chair of the firm’s Pipeline Outreach Program and serves on the firm’s D&I Committee and the Recruiting Committee. On a statewide level, Arora sits on the board of the South Asian Bar Association of Florida and has served on The Florida Bar’s D&I Committee and the Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee.
