Clemson University President James Clements, the Clemson Board of Visitors, and the Clemson 4-H Pinckney Leadership Program Scholars met in the Rotunda Room, overlooking the U.S. Capitol, at Nelson Mullins Washington, D.C. office for breakfast and to hear remarks from South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. Partner David Wilkins, also a member of Clemson’s Board of Trustees, hosted the event. Clemson’s Board of Visitors and Program Scholars were in town for several days to visit with members of the South Carolina Congressional Delegation.
The Board of Visitors, comprised of individuals nominated by the Board of Trustees, has the primary responsibility to serve as goodwill ambassadors for the university in local communities and on campus. Through the committee structure of the Board of Visitors, the members are involved with student recruitment, student activities, and engagement. The members are also involved with university-directed advocacy at the state and federal level.
The 4-H Pinckney Leadership Program is one of the foremost youth leadership development initiatives in South Carolina. The program’s focus is on middle school and high school students from across the Palmetto state. Housed at Clemson University, the program is part of Clemson’s Cooperative Extension Program within the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences.
