Patricia A. Markus, a healthcare attorney in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Raleigh office, will present at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s 23rd Annual Health Law Institute on ‘What’s New in HIPAA Enforcement’ March 7. Her presentation will include information on how entities can use past enforcement examples and guidance issued by the Office for Civil Rights to guide compliance efforts.
Ms. Markus is a partner who represents healthcare industry clients, specifically focusing on health information privacy, security, and technology issues. She regularly advises clients on HIPAA and other federal and state law privacy and security compliance, responding to data breaches, meaningful use compliance and audits, clinical research and other innovative uses of data, and telemedicine.
Other presenters include Barbara J. Holland, regional manager with the U.S. Department of Health and Huma Services in Philadelphia, and Lauren B. Steinfeld, chief privacy officer for Penn Medicine and senior advisor for privacy at the University of Pennsylvania.
