Encompass completed its Spring Service Project on Friday, April 27th, packing meals for international hunger relief. Partnered with Rise Against Hunger, sixteen Encompass team members packed 10,152 meal packets, which consist of enriched rice, soy protein, and dried vegetables. These meals will be shipped internationally into developing countries through school feeding programs to encourage families to come to school.
To date, Encompass has raised $3,041.92 for this endeavor from fellow team and Nelson Mullins members.
Volunteers who packed the meals on Friday afternoon were Julie Flaming, Sean Allen, Richie Barber, Evan Benjamin, Ethan Darnell, Jeanne Howe, Laura Huff (not pictured), Kenya Lighty, Rick McGee, Zade Miller, Kim Patton, Al Petren, Michael Pratt (not pictured), Brian Simmons, Clara Smith, and Michelle Watkins (not pictured).
Rise Against Hunger’s focus is to break the cycle of poverty through education and the meals directly allow children in those countries to come to school, instead of working or begging for the day to try and buy food.
Encompass strives to complete a service project each quarter to better our local, regional, and global communities.
