Government investigations can be disruptive and distracting for all parties involved, and the consequences of a conviction are life-altering. Even if a client prevails at trial and no charges are brought, oftentimes there are enormous costs. Merely being subjected to an investigation tends to be extensive, lengthy and stressful. Charleston attorney Bart Daniel and Columbia attorney Cory Manning will be discussing defending government investigations during the 2017 Association of Corporate Counsel’s South Carolina Chapter Annual Meeting Nov. 7 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Daniel co-heads the White Collar Defense and Government Investigations team. Daniel practices both civil and criminal litigation. Nominated by President George H.W. Bush, he was confirmed and served as U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina from 1989 to 1992. Manning co-chairs the Firm’s White Collar Defense and Government Investigations practice group. Manning practices in the areas of corporate investigations, securities litigation, business litigation and class action defense.
