Washington partner Steve Augustino will lead a session at the 2022 INCOMPAS Show in Denver, CO on Sunday, Oct. 23. INCOMPAS is a leading voice for edge providers, internet providers, and the competitive telecommunications networks serving them. Augustino's session, "Competition in Multi-Tenant Environments (MTEs)" will discuss the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) February 2022 decision revising its rules governing the contractual agreements between multiple-tenant building owners and communications providers. Joining Augustino is Patti Ringo, Regulatory & Governments Affairs Manager at Sonic.
Earlier this year, one of the first items moved by the new FCC Chair was a revision to rules promoting competition in MTEs. The new rules prohibit communications providers from entering into exclusive revenue-sharing arrangements with building owners and prohibit graduated arrangements that increase the revenue share amount as more tenants are served by the provider. In addition, the rules require disclosure to tenants of exclusive marketing agreements and prohibit “sale and leaseback” of in-building facilities owned by the communications provider. Augustino and Ringo's session will focus on the practical effect of the new FCC rules, how effectively the order lives up to its promise of promoting competition, and provide insight for communications providers in offering service in MTEs.
The INCOMPAS Show will take place at the Sheraton Denver Downtown from Sunday, Oct. 23 to Wednesday, Oct. 26. The show provides opportunities for competitive communications professionals and is designed to facilitate meaningful exchanges that lead to business deals and pipeline building.
Augustino is a leading practitioner in competition policy and rulemaking in the communications marketplace.
