Join Fort Lauderdale managing partner Gabe Imperato and DC partner Jillian Willis at the 34th Annual National Institute on Healthcare Fraud hosted by the American Bar Association in Chicago from May 1-3. The Institute reviews current legal and ethical issues which arise in connection with the enforcement of healthcare fraud matters through keynote speakers, panel presentations, and general and confidential workshops.
Imperato has been on the Institute planning committee for more than 30 years and will provide the opening remarks for the conference and participate in an Easy Chair discussion with Henry Leventis, the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, to open the Thursday morning sessions. This discussion will highlight the enforcement resources and priorities devoted to healthcare fraud matters at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee (Nashville), the location of one of the highest concentrations of healthcare organizations in the country. The types of cases that are brought in this district will be highlighted as well as an examination of how the national agenda for healthcare fraud enforcement is translated in the Middle District of Tennessee.
Willis is an established litigator with extensive experience in the court room and overseeing trial teams. She has carved out a particular area of interest in the health care industry, advising and counseling through government investigations, litigation and compliance issues. She will participate in the "Criminal and Civil Enforcement and the Opioid Crisis" workshop. This workshop will review the basis for liability in criminal and civil enforcement actions involving the dissemination of opioids.
