The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is currently considering an Investigational New Drug (IND) Application from Mindstate Design Labs (Mindstate) for a Phase I human trial of its psychedelic drug 5-MeO-Mi also known as moxy. The IND Application and proposed trial is unique in that Mindstate selected this drug candidate through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Mindstate reports that it analyzed more than 70,000 “trip reports” from psychedelic users, sourced from diverse online platforms, to understand the subjective effects and states of consciousness induced by these substances. The Department of Labor (DOL) recently issued a new rule Regarding Employee Classification that may impact employers within the healthcare industry. The new rule promulgated by the DOL gives updated guideposts on proper classifications of independent contractors and employees and will make it more difficult to classify workers as independent contractors.
