GOP Convention
In the continuing saga of whether or not the GOP will hold an in-person party convention, this week the president demanded answers from Governor Cooper on whether such a convention could be held in Charlotte. See article at this link.

Employment rate
The unemployment rate in North Carolina is seeing some all-time highs as is the rest of the country. The demand for state services has sky-rocketed as a result. See article at this link.

Revenue Forecast
The state revenue forecast for North Carolina is bleak at best. The state is experiencing one of its worst collections of revenue since the Great Recession. A more accurate picture of the revenues is expected in late July or early August, once taxes are collected by July 15th. See article at this link.

Budget plan
As a result of the budget strain and the demand made upon state services, the legislature may pass a series of mini-budgets. It is not entirely clear how this process would work with respect to the budget. See article at this link.
