Budget Shortfall

State leaders this week disclosed in part what the budget shortfall was going to be this fiscal year. The estimates as high as $4B which represents approximately 20% of the total State budget. It is unknown what, if any, federal aid will come to the State to fill the gap. Click here for story.

GOP Convention

The COVID-19 epidemic has delayed many major sports event, concerts, and other activities. One of the potential victims would have also been the GOP convention scheduled to be held in Charlotte this summer. Rumors swirled that the convention would be held virtually, but now the Chairman of the National Republican Party has come out and said that the convention will be held in person as scheduled. Phase II

Governor Roy Cooper this week announced his Phase II openings for businesses in North Carolina. Secretary Mandy Cohen of DHHS agreed with his vision because she said that most of the metrics established for such openings were met, and she was comfortable with going forward with the Phase II rollout. Click here for story.
