Bipartisan Prospects
Here is a political event we haven’t seen in quite some time. The Governor, Democrat Roy Cooper, and the Republican leadership in the General Assembly seem to be enjoying a somewhat bipartisan legislative Session so far. One must wonder how long this period of détente will last, considering the acrimonious relationship in the past between the Executive and Legislative branches of State Government. View Article.
Vaccine Surge
DHHS Deputy Secretary Kody Kinsley was able to give the public some positive news about COVID-19 this week. The State’s vaccine supply has apparently increased, thereby allowing more people in North Carolina to be vaccinated. View Article.
Unemployment Rate
More good news for North Carolinians. The unemployment rate is decreasing as more jobs become available in the State. View Article.
Governor’s Power
Even with the easing of tensions between the Governor and the Legislative leadership, there are signs that tensions still exist between the Executive and Legislative branches A bill was introduced this week in the legislature curtailing the Governor’s emergency powers. View Article.
