This week NCSU Economics Professor, Michael Walden, released an index showing the economy in North Carolina declining in April. See article at this link.
Mini-Budgets
The N.C. House and Senate are sticking with their plan of passing a different style of budget this Session. The legislators are deliberating small, single-topic, appropriations bills or “mini-budgets”, many of which address special needs in the state. This process is a break from the past when the legislature adopted a budget contained in one bill. See article at this link.
GOP Convention
The GOP convention scheduled to be held in Charlotte in August, is in jeopardy. President Trump apparently has instructed the RNC to look at other states to host this event. The disagreement is with Governor Cooper’s order that the convention must be held according to certain health and safety standards due to the pandemic. See article at this link.
