RNC Switch
Division continues to brew over the location of the GOP National convention scheduled to be held at the end of August. It appears that part of the convention will be held in Charlotte, NC, under certain conditions, but the President may choose to give his acceptance speech at another location which allows the Republicans to fill an arena-type venue. The unemployment claims experienced a drop this past week, but many economic forecasters are skeptical that the economy will continue to improve this year. See article at this link.
Task Force
Governor Cooper announced a task force of citizens to develop and to implement a strategy for improving equality in North Carolina. The group will be led by Attorney General Josh Stein and Supreme Court Associate Justice Anita Earls. See article at this link.
Election Preparation
The N.C. Legislature is now focusing on what impact COVID-19 is likely to have on the upcoming elections. The centerpiece of the debate is whether or not citizens should be able to use mail-in ballots as a method of voting. See article at this link.
