Luis represents employers in a variety of employment law matters. Previously a plaintiff-side attorney, Luis has a unique understanding of the potential challenges that companies often face in litigation.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Luis served as a student attorney with Northwestern University School of Law’s Juvenile Justice and Criminal Trials and Appeals Clinic, litigating claims of wrongful convictions. Since then, he has represented individuals in complex Section 1983 matters arising out of constitutional violations, including obtaining reversal of summary judgment on behalf of female inmates before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Luis served as a student attorney with Northwestern University School of Law’s Juvenile Justice and Criminal Trials and Appeals Clinic, litigating claims of wrongful convictions. Discrimination, Harassment, Retaliation Defense

  • Regularly represents employers in lawsuits, administrative agency complaints, and appeals relating to alleged violations of Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and equivalent state fair employment laws.
  • Successfully defended Fortune 500 retail company in numerous lawsuits involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, including achieving dismissals through dispositive motions.
  • Successfully defended global recruiting agency in private arbitrations relating to allegations of discrimination and retaliation.

Advice and Counsel

  • Advises clients in connection with employee discipline, terminations, personnel policies, and strategies for the prevention of employee lawsuits,
