Ashleigh assists clients with compliance, preparedness, response, risk management, and governmental investigations associated with data protection and data breaches involving personal, financial, and medical data (investigation, response, notification, and defense). Ashleigh assists clients with compliance, preparedness, response, risk management, and governmental investigations associated with data protection and data breaches involving personal, financial, and medical data (investigation, response, notification, and defense). In addition, Ashleigh drafts policies and procedures and guides clients through obtaining and maintaining HIPAA-HITECH Privacy, Security Rule, and Breach Notification compliance.
Her health law practice involves counseling clients in healthcare regulatory issues common to licensed health care providers. She assists with Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) compliance and investigations and state licensure, Medicare and Medicaid compliance, and survey response, including defense of immediate jeopardy sanctions. Ashleigh renders advice and guidance during investigations involving such things as data breaches, Office for Civil Rights complaints, Immediate Jeopardy actions, and EMTALA defense. She helps clients coordinate risk management assessments, emergency preparedness evaluations and policies, and assists with mental health issues including psychiatric and substance abuse involuntary commitment and guardianships.
In providing comprehensive service to her clients, Ashleigh renders general business advice, as well as advice regarding other regulatory and compliance matters pertinent to large and small businesses, physician/dental practices, and to hospitals/health systems. Her experience includes drafting mental health policies, procedures, and forms, as well as end-of-life policies and procedures for health system clients. She provides advice on data breach response and notification, assisting clients in reviewing their data protection policies/compliance, crafting EMTALA compliance plans, and OSHA abatement and defense.
Prior to attending law school, Ashleigh served as the Practice Manager for a large, multi-location medical office. This experience serves her well in crafting policies and procedures that are comprehensive, yet practical, for clients to implement.
