Nelson Mullins Names Kraig Long as Baltimore Office Managing Partner

BALTIMORE – Nelson Mullins Riley and Scarborough LLP has named Kraig Long managing partner of its Baltimore office effective January 1. He replaces Tim Hodge who will take on a new role of leading the newly formed Atlantic Corporate & Real Estate Team consisting of corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate lawyers in the Baltimore and Boston offices.

Long assumes daily leadership of more than 70 attorneys and staff members. Baltimore became the firm’s 18th office in 2018 with the addition of corporate and litigation attorneys to enhance our services to clients in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Long joined the firm in 2021 as a partner on the litigation team.

“I am honored to take on this new role, and I look forward to working with my partners and colleagues to build on the positive momentum created by Tim Hodge and Mike Brown since they opened this office in 2018,” said Long.

“I am very passionate about the office we have built here in Baltimore, but I leave it in good hands with Kraig Long,” Hodge said. “We have assembled a wonderful array of talented lawyers, including Kraig, who achieve great results for our clients.  It is an exciting time of growth and change in Baltimore and Kraig is the right person at the right time to build upon our success.”

Long represents and defends employers and management in labor and employment-related litigation, including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour violations. Long also is a trusted advisor to a broad range of clients on all aspects of employment law, including strategies and best practices for creating positive and inclusive work environments, managing and accommodating employees with medical conditions and disabilities, compliance with family and medical leave laws, and minimizing litigation risks in the workplace.

Long has been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America for his employment law management as well as litigation practice in labor and employment. He has been named one of Maryland’s Super Lawyers in Employment Litigation Defense for the past seven years. In 2022 he was selected for the Daily Record’s Power List of Business and Employment Law and received the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s Black Leadership Award.
