Nelson Mullins Assembles Team to Serve Human Capital Management Industry

Recognizing growth in the staffing industry in general and the consolidation of those entities in particular, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP has assembled a group of attorneys to provide targeted legal services to this industry.

The Nelson Mullins Human Capital Management Group includes attorneys who practice in mergers and acquisitions, corporate, labor and employment, employee benefits, and general commercial litigation. As a collaborative team, the group guides, structures, and closes mergers and acquisitions; advises on legal issues related to employee classification, independent contractor classification, and wage and hour issues; and offers advice in raising capital, among other matters.

“The staffing industry continues to be a growing sector of the economy with a high demand for mergers and acquisitions counsel, general corporate counsel, and labor and employment advice,” said Amanda Norcross, a co-leader of the Human Capital Management Group. "Our Human Capital Management Group brings together a pool of talented lawyers covering a range of legal areas needed for a staffing, recruiting, or human resource services company,” she said. "We are also able to draw upon legal professionals with experience in a range of legal areas throughout the geographic footprint of our firm."

In addition to M&A, the group offers clients experience in:

  • Labor and employment legal compliance and policies
  • Identifying and resolving worker classification issues through voluntary disclosure programs
  • Properly hiring and retaining employees
  • Corporate governance and compliance matters
  • Employee benefits and executive compensation
  • Federal and state tax planning

“With the growing number of Nelson Mullins’ clients in the staffing industry, we are excited about the opportunity to form the Human Capital Management Industry Group to better meet their needs, and we know that our combined experience will position us to provide more valuable advice to our clients,” noted Katelyn Fredericks, also a co-leader of the Human Capital Management Group.

“With our combined areas of experience, we can help our clients maximize their ability to provide effective workforces and achieve their strategic goals,” added Michelle Johnson, an employment lawyer and member of the team. “We look forward to assisting this growing  industry.”

Established in 1897, Nelson Mullins has more than 800 attorneys and government relations professionals with offices in 11 states and Washington, D.C. Click here for more information on the Human Capital Management Group.
