Nelson Mullins Advises Exato Digital in Financing Round Led by Quartzo Capital and Bradesco

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP served as U.S. legal counsel to Exato Digital, a Brazilian startup specializing in automated background verification, in its R$ 20 million financing round. The round was led by Quartzo Capital, with a follow-on investment from existing investor Bradesco.

The financing included R$ 15 million from Quartzo Capital and R$ 5 million from Bradesco. The funds will support Exato Digital’s growth, including the expansion of commercial operations, integration with HR platforms through plugins, and the addition of new AI layers to enhance the user experience.

Founded in 2019 by Leandro Casella (CEO) and André Takitani (CTO), Exato Digital automates background checks by leveraging more than 60 public data sources, delivering organized results in under a minute, often without human intervention. After refocusing exclusively on recruitment and selection for medium and large companies, the company reached breakeven in July 2025. Exato Digital grew 61% in the first half of 2025 and expects to surpass R$ 30 million in revenue this year, with plans to double that in 2026.

The deal team included Nelson Mullins partner Leandro Molina and associate Rebecca Lester, with support from foreign associate Giovana Grupenmacher.

Molina has more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance, representing startups, emerging companies, and investors across technology sectors. He advises both U.S. companies and funds investing in Latin America, as well as foreign clients entering the U.S. market. Molina is dual-qualified in New York and São Paulo and is a Foreign Legal Consultant in Florida.

Lester advises multinational corporations, emerging growth companies, and venture capital investors on private equity investments, financings, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. Her practice focuses on cross-border transactions, particularly involving Latin American entities and investors.

Grupenmacher advises technology companies, investors, and financial institutions on cross-border matters involving Brazil and the United States. Before joining Nelson Mullins, she practiced for more than five years at a prominent Brazilian law firm, focusing on payments, fintech, and emerging-company transactions.
