Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP has chosen Atlanta senior associates Frances Hyewon Kim and Shaniqua Singleton as 2022 Legal Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Pathfinders. Beginning in March, they will participate in a program designed to train diverse, high-performing, early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies, including leadership and the building of professional networks.
LCLD is an organization of more than 300 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession, according to its website. As members of the Pathfinders program, Kim and Singleton will learn foundational leadership skills, gain an understanding of career development strategies for both in-house and law firm practice, and manage internal professional networks through relationship building skills. The professional development series lasts six to seven months and employs in-person, online, and networking opportunities for the Pathfinders.
Kim focuses her practice in the areas of commercial finance and real estate capital markets. She represents commercial banks, life insurance companies, national CMBS lenders, and other fixed-income lenders in corporate and real estate finance transactions, including syndicated and single-lender corporate and asset-based credit facilities, CMBS loans, bridge loans, balance sheet loans, and mezzanine loans.
Singleton represents clients on a broad range of employment, commercial, and business litigation matters. She is also experienced in pre-trial aspects of litigation including deposing plaintiffs and other witnesses, drafting motions and briefs, participating in voir dire, arguing motions in limine, and preparing for trial. Outside of the firm, she has been involved in the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, Bleckley Inn of Court, Atlanta Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
