Sam Ludington Featured by University of Miami School of Law Following Pro Bono Award Recognition
Miami senior associate Sam Ludington was recently featured in an article published by the University of Miami School of Law following his receipt of the Equal Justice Pro Bono Rising Star Award from Legal Services of Greater Miami (LSGMI) for his leadership in special education advocacy.
Recognizing the challenges families face in securing legally required educational accommodations, Ludington led a partnership between LSGMI and several law firms, including Nelson Mullins, to expand access to legal representation.
“Success in these cases can change the trajectory of a student’s academic and personal life,” said Ludington. “It has been particularly rewarding helping parents who are trying their hardest to ensure their children are afforded the necessary accommodations for success.”
Through the initiative, Ludington represented four families, including a student with severe autism, successfully preventing a transfer to a special education center and protecting the student’s rights.
