Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) Webinar | Stay in SYNC: AI Governance, Insurance, and Legal Implications

Nelson Mullins Partner Darren Skyles spoke on a May 5 webinar hosted by Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA), addressing the evolving intersection of artificial intelligence, regulatory oversight, and risk management in healthcare.

The program, “Stay in SYNC: AI Governance, Insurance, and Legal Implications,” brought together legal and industry perspectives on how healthcare organizations can responsibly scale AI adoption while navigating compliance obligations, insurance considerations, and emerging enforcement trends. Skyles was joined by Keith Chew, Principal at Consulting With Integrity, who provided a practical perspective on governance frameworks and operational implementation.

During the session, Skyles and Chew discussed:

  • Developing scalable AI governance structures across healthcare systems
  • Aligning insurance coverage with AI-related risk exposure
  • Preparing for increased regulatory scrutiny and enforcement tied to AI deployment
  • Integrating legal, compliance, and operational teams in AI oversight strategies

Skyles is a partner in the Nelson Mullins Healthcare practice group and is based in the firm’s Houston office. He advises hospitals, health systems, and other healthcare organizations on transactional, regulatory, compliance, and governance matters, including physician relationships and operational strategy.

This session reflects Nelson Mullins’ continued focus on advising healthcare organizations on the legal and strategic implications of artificial intelligence, particularly as adoption accelerates across clinical and administrative functions.
