Fighting on All Fronts: Ongoing FCC Initiatives to Combat Illegal Robocalls
Hosted by: Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP
Please join Nelson Mullins partners John Heitmann, Jack Pringle, Steve Augustino, and senior associate Michael Nemcik, for a live webinar discussing recent and upcoming FCC actions targeting illegal robocalls and what companies should be doing to mitigate unlawful robocalling on their networks.
This 60-minute session will feature legal and regulatory insights from seasoned telecom attorneys on the current landscape of efforts to eradicate illegal scam robocalls. The webinar will address how service providers can comply with existing obligations and will explore the changes proposed in the FCC's most recent Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to combat illegal robocalling.
Overview:
For almost a decade, industry and the FCC progressively have been increasing protections against illegal robocalling in an effort to restore trust to voice calling. Numerous obligations apply to all carriers to engage in robocall mitigation and to implement technologies to block or label calls to end users. Over the last year, the FCC and state AGs have picked up the pace of enforcement, while tweaking a number of robocall mitigation obligations. In October, the FCC adopted a new rulemaking proposal it described as a "fresh approach" to the problem. This webinar will unpack these developments and help companies understand the implications of the latest proposals.
Key Discussion Points:
- Recently initiated FCC rulemaking on presenting caller identity information and identifying foreign originated calls
- Removals of filings from the Robocall Mitigation Database and blocking of relevant traffic
- Blocking calls based on reasonable Do Not Originate (DNO) list
- Developments surrounding the STIR/SHAKEN authentication framework and signing of calls
- FCC and state enforcement actions against illegal robocallers and the service providers that carry them
