Expect Nothing Less Than Uncertainty: The Power of Skepticism and the Ethical Use of AI

Hosted by: University of South Carolina School of Law

Columbia partner Jack Pringle will present at the upcoming TechInLaw Legal Seminar Series held November 6 at the University of South Carolina, Joseph F. Rice School of Law. The event is a Zoom-only webinar. One hour of SC CLE ethics credit pending.

Pringle will present "Expect Nothing Less Than Uncertainty: The Power of Skepticism and the Ethical Use of AI." Like all powerful tools, AI applications offer many possibilities. However, exploring that potential (and the corresponding risks) is impossible without 1) understanding the tools and how they work; 2) understanding our relationship with these tools before we put them to work; and 3) matching AI tools to the appropriate tasks.

This presentation will encourage the legal profession to use skepticism and critical thinking skills to move beyond the hype, demystify AI, and get our hands dirty in learning how to use and interact responsibly with these tools.
