On August 18, in Hartsville, South Carolina, Partner Dell Chappell and Associates Wendy Degerman, Adam Hegler, Jenni Jokerst, and Brad Barringer helped to provide approximately 80 wills and healthcare powers of attorney to first responders in Darlington County, South Carolina. To show our appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices made by firefighters, police, and emergency medical technicians in our communities, Nelson Mullins offers the Wills for Heroes Program. The program offers first response personnel and their families free will preparation services.

Thousands of wills have been created since the program’s inception after September 11, 2001 in South Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. The project became an American Bar Association Young Lawyers® Division service project and is the model for numerous state bar programs.
