AI & RegTech for Financial Services and Insurance Summit
Hosted by: American Conference Institute
Nelson Mullins counsel Jennie Cunningham will be hosting a special session at the upcoming American Conference Institute’s AI & RegTech for Financial Services and Insurance Summit. On day two, she will lead the session Cross-Border Data in Practice: Operating Under the 2025 Sensitive Data Transfer Rule alongside Jocelyn Aqua, partner at HWG LLP. This session breaks down how the new federal rule restricting bulk transfers of sensitive U.S. personal and government‑related data to countries of concern is reshaping global data flows. Additionally, they will cover classifying covered data, countries, and counterparties for accurate screening; updating DPAs, SCCs, and vendor terms to contractually enforce cross‑border controls; segmenting and geo‑fencing datasets to keep sensitive information within approved locations; and overseeing sovereign and third‑party data centers to meet examiner expectations.
A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E), Jennie advises clients on U.S. and international privacy, AI, and cybersecurity laws, helping them manage data protection risks and comply with frameworks like GDPR and CCPA. She supports organizations working with emerging technologies such as AI, biometrics, and data analytics, and assists with privacy policies, cross‑border data transfer agreements, privacy impact assessments, and product counseling.
