National Institute on Health Care Fraud Conference

By Gabriel L. Imperato

The American Bar Association will hold its National Institute on Health Care Fraud June 22-24 in Las Vegas. I have been honored to serve as program chairman for the last 25 years and look forward to another outstanding program, which will be our first one that is in-person in three years. I am pleased to join fellow Nelson Mullins partner Tom Moran in speaking at the Institute. We will each speak on a panel and I will emcee and moderate a panel on government enforcement. This conference offers an extraordinary review of present legal and ethical issues that arise in relation with the enforcement of health care fraud matters and Nelson Mullins is proud to serve as a sponsor.

Important health care issues will be covered in a high-level three-part series with panel presentations and workshops for health care attorneys, regulators, compliance professionals, state and federal prosecutors and investigators, criminal defense attorneys, and qui tam relators’ counsel and consultants.

Tom Moran will join a panel discussing enforcement liability and insolvency/bankruptcy addressing liability associated with criminal and civil enforcement actions and insolvency and ability to pay and potential resolution in bankruptcy court. He serves as a member of Nelson Mullins' Executive Committee and is managing partner in the Myrtle Beach office. He is the firm's healthcare team leader and focuses on transactions between healthcare entities.

The panel in which I am participating focuses on negotiating and mediating false claim cases. My practice at Nelson Mullins includes representing individuals and organizations accused of healthcare fraud and assisting and advising healthcare organizations on corporate governance and compliance matters.

I hope you can join us. Please see the full agenda and link to register below.
