In 2011 he took a position as in–house counsel at the U.S. headquarters of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A, Inc., primarily supporting the company’s vehicle safety and compliance functions. Prior to an affiliation with a national law firm, Steve worked for 31 years for Nissan North America, Inc. and Nissan Motor Corporation in USA (now Nissan North America, Inc.), where he had various responsibilities in practice areas that included vehicle safety regulations, product liability litigation management and counseling, and automotive service and warranty matters.

Steve now concentrates on vehicle safety regulatory issues. He has experience with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and safety regulations promulgated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. His experience includes counseling on safety defect and noncompliance issues and investigations, vehicle safety recalls, and federal motor vehicle safety standards. He has helped establish company compliance programs regarding provisions of the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability, and Documentation (TREAD) Act for its Early Warning Reporting and Foreign Recall Reporting requirements. His objective is to provide practical advice and solutions, while minimizing legal risk and maintaining client integrity with regulators.
