Melissa focuses her practice on employment, healthcare, and commercial litigation. She has experience defending employers in matters involving discrimination and retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Florida Civil Rights Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), as well as wage-and-hour disputes and class and collective actions under the Florida Minimum Wage Act (FMWA) and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), federal and state whistleblower claims, and breach of contract matters in both state and federal court.
Melissa also represents healthcare providers in a range of regulatory, reimbursement, and litigation matters involving Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payors. Her healthcare practice includes provider audits and overpayment disputes, administrative appeals, reimbursement and coverage disputes, payor investigations, and arbitration and litigation involving healthcare providers and insurers. She has experience navigating complex federal and state healthcare regulations and representing providers through various stages of the administrative and litigation process.
In addition, Melissa litigates complex commercial and consumer disputes, including claims involving misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, breach of restrictive covenants, including non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, defamation, tortious interference, and Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA).
