Experience

  • Represented developers and owners in the purchase, sale, lease, development, and financing of commercial real estate (office, retail, warehouse, multi–family, and flex space).
  • Represented banks, financial institutions and other companies with commercial lending matters, including real estate secured and asset based loans and loan modifications.
  • Represented small business owners and advises on various aspects of corporate governance and general contract matters.
  • Acted as South Carolina counsel to out–of–state borrowers and financial institutions for assistance with South Carolina legal issues and provision of legal opinions under South Carolina law.
  • Worked in–house for a large state–owned utility company, advising on all real estate matters. ​​​​

Representative Transactions

  • Representation of:
    • A real estate development firm in the documentation and sale of a large, master–planned community in Berkeley County, South Carolina.
    • A national real estate development firm in the creation of a commercial condominium and documentation and sale of a mixed–use multifamily and office project in midtown Charleston.
    • A local technology group in the acquisition and financing of company headquarters in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
    • A manufacturer and distributor of power sports products in the acquisition and financing of a company headquarters in Charleston, South Carolina, and warehouse space in Orangeburg and Dorchester Counties.
    • A franchisee of national chain restaurants in the negotiation of multiple restaurant leases.
    • An educational nonprofit with corporate structuring for the purpose of providing study abroad programs to high school students.
