Experience

  • Has handled acquisitions, development, and dispositions of all commercial real estate asset types on behalf of sponsors and investors, including multifamily, student housing, single-family, office, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use projects.
  • Has represented sponsors and investors on real estate joint ventures, preferred equity investments and other investment structures.
  • Has represented both borrower and lender clients on a variety of finance transactions.
  • Has assisted creditors and borrowers with transactions relating to distressed commercial loans, including restructurings in and out of bankruptcy, purchases and sales of loans and REO properties, and remedy enforcement.

Representative Transactions

  • Representation of sponsor and developer on the acquisition, construction financing and development of a single-family rental community in Venice, Florida.
  • Representation of national REIT on numerous land banking transactions with single-family homebuilders throughout the Southeast.
  • Representation of sponsor on tenancy-in-common conversion and simultaneous recapitalization of a multifamily project in Birmingham, Alabama.
  • Representation of joint venture on the acquisition, financing and joint venture work for a portfolio of student housing properties in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • Representation of joint venture on the sale of a North Georgia resort property.
  • Representation of institutional investor on its preferred equity investment in a mixed-use development project in Austin, Texas.
  • Representation of regional lender on a multiple-loan credit facility for a manufacturing business headquartered in Habersham County, Georgia.
  • Representation of special servicer in restructuring out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy of portfolio of loans secured by 240 retail properties around the Southeast, together with subsequent assumptions and modifications of loans.
