John is a real estate and corporate partner in our Boston office.  He focuses his practice on real estate, private equity, and opportunity zone transactions.  Additionally, John handles other general real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and debt transactions. John’s client base is wide-ranging and he routinely advises real estate start-ups to global institutions and everything in-between, including developers, real estate companies, private funds, insurance companies, domestic and international family offices, investment banks, local, national and international banks, REITs, and other institutional investors.  Throughout his legal career John has had leadership positions in his organizations ranging from Executive Team Member to running multiple practice groups.

  • Represented second generation real estate platform with respect to regional development joint venture projects utilizing GP, co-GP and LP structures (including preferred equity) involving over $500 million in project value
  • Represented numerous entities and individuals in the formation and structuring of “Opportunity Zone” real estate funds throughout the country in all asset classes with an aggregate value of over $1 billion dollars 
  • Represented institutional private equity provider with respect to their national joint venture equity program with projects throughout the Unites States involving all asset classes and over $1 billion dollars in asset value
  • Represented regional real estate private equity fund in a series of real estate private equity joint venture transactions with an aggregate value of over $750 million in property value
  • Represented global insurer in the structuring and investing of multiple equity investments involving industrial properties valued at over $500 million
  • Represented hedge funds and institutional equity providers in the structuring and investing in multiple private equity joint ventures worth more than $1.5 billion involving both turnaround and stabilized real estate
